Hi Mike, I've wanted to post a comment for a while now but only became aware of your excellent podcast until just after you finished The History of Rome, which is what I study at Macquarie University. Then I had to focus of pottery shards(archaeology is not my strength) for the first half of this year. Ok, my question: I'm just wondering, after that crazy night in the National Assembly of abolishing feudal privileges, what set the nobility apart from the commons.

I'm looking for recommendations on a good, comprehensive, and ideally fairly recent history on the French Revolution. My strength is more the Napoleonic era.

I don't see anything on Audible but an exceedingly odd multi volume... poem? Idk, it sounded like a poem from the samples. Unless I somehow missed something there, an e-book for my kindle would be ideal.

Oh, and it's not exactly a history, but A Place of Greater Safety is fantastic. It's why I'm looking for a nice big tome on what really happened.

The special rights enjoyed by the nobility were in the main not actually abolished. They would remain a cause of strife over the next few years.

Hi Mike, today is a bad day for me. I finally caught up. For the last few months I've had The history of Rome and then Revolutions on demand. I've been listening to your podcast as I milk my cows.(I'm a dairy farmer). I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute so thanks a million. It's gonna take me a while to get used to waiting for my hit of history which will be especially frustrating as up to know I've never had to wait while you were on holidays or whatever. I'd been planning to make a financial contribution once I caught up so I'm definitely doing that now in the hopes that you can chain yourself to your desk and pump out more episodes! Thank you for this great series! The historical facts presented and your enthusiasm in presenting them make for a highly educational and entertaining combination! The the concluding legislative acts of 'Great Fear' episode seem to have a degree of familiarity with the efforts of focus of the American Tea Party. Not sure what of anything will remain of our system of government wil remain should the Tea Party prevail. Also wonder what "mechanism" will be used to purge the "Big Government" royalists our ranks! Shiver Me Timbers!
