After the failure of the Stamp Act, Parliament passed a new set of taxes known as the Townshend Acts. The colonists were not amused.

Living in Germany, episodes tend to come out in the night, and so I listen to them on the way to work. I just wanted to say, that these are what get me out of bed and out the door on Monday mornings.

"Pressure cooker" as a metaphor for a situation in Boston seems a questionable choice.

The Townshend Acts were a series of acts passed, beginning in 1767, by the Parliament of Great Britain relating to the British colonies in North America. The acts are named after Charles Townshend, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who proposed the program.
